Oct 10th, 2022: Standing Firm

A friend shared this picture with me via FB. It was taken in Naples (Florida) when Hurricane Ian hit. I assume it is authentic because my friend is a police officer. The picture reminds me of what we have to encounter these days.

We deal with the hurricane of the lack of truth and integrity everywhere. We have governments that lie to their people, business leaders who would do anything to advance their own causes, and religious leaders who abuse the trust and generosity of people. We have teachers who have no interest in teaching.

We deal with the hurricane of the abolition of morality. Everything we say has to be scrutinized by the new cultural police. We have to invent our new identity in order to be accepted. We cannot raise our children with our moral commitments. We are not sure how to address people because they are not what they appear. We really have no clue.

We deal with a hurricane of diminishing our freedom. Governments continue to exert more control over their people. We are being monitored, watched, and manipulated by both governments and big techs. As mobile devices are getting more powerful, we have less power over our ways of life.

So this picture tells me we need to stand firm against these hurricanes like these widows. The water level looked daunting, but the windows did not break. We cannot break either because God does not tolerate evil. Neither should we.
