Oct 8th, 2022: A New Understanding of KPI

I recently came across a new way of looking at KPI. It used to stand for Key Performance Indicators. It was the way to evaluate employees and their performance.

How can we keep people interested in their involvement or work? A shared vision is often mentioned. A shared vision has to be done from the grassroots up and not from the top down. We have seen ineffectiveness and waste due to the lack of shared vision. The lack of interest is critical in the diminishing of productivity.

How can we keep our people informed? It is perplexing to see how miscommunication continues to be a nagging problem in many organizations. It is not about the use of technology. It is about having commitments to connect with others. Technology can bring about more issues in miscommunication.

How can we encourage our people to be involved? Shared ownership and shared experiences are fundamental. When people learn how to walk together, they will get involved with one another in both successes and failures. Involvement is not just about having responsibilities. It demands the desire to be there for others as a whole.

How can we inspire one another? It is more than just having catchy phrases and cute slogans. They will die. Inspiration comes from integrity and accountability. When leaders fail to own up to what has been wrong, they will be despised and won't inspire. Endurance and hope define inspiring leadership.

It is the life of a disciple of Jesus in many ways. We are called to invite others to be part of life's journey together. We have to study, ponder and discuss what we learn from the Scripture with one another. We help people to identify their gifts as they seek how to serve. We spend time in prayer and solitude so that God can open our eyes to the impossible.

Acts 9: 10-12

"Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight."

2 Corinthians 12: 1-4

"I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. And I know that this man was caught up into paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter."
