Oct 7th, 2022: Act of Worship?
Sports talking heads start talking about who will be out and in.
Hockey rings are the place of worship for many communities in Canada.
It is similar to football stadiums in America.
People love to cheer for their winning team.
During the playoff, people have conversations in different gatherings about their team's strategies and schemes.
When a team makes a playoff, their merchandise sales are rocketed.
More people wear their teams' jerseys to work and public markets.
It is an act of worship in some ways.
Their focus and pledge of allegiance are on their teams' display.
We can talk about football, hockey, and other sports events enthusiastically.
We don't have the same passion for sharing our faith openly.
We cheer and scream in stadiums and hockey arenas.
Church worship can be so subdued that we have no idea God is in the area.
We are willing to alter our identity by wearing a jersey with the name of the player we like.
We are unsure how to live out our true identity as Jesus' followers and grace receivers combined.
May our hearts be committed, our minds be courageous, and our faith be sincere.
We need to learn how to live a life worthy of the calling we have received.
"Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands."
Psalm 63: 3-4
