Oct 28th, 2022: Halloween?

 

Halloween is here soon enough.

Some people will try their best to make it rough.

Some will go out of their way to make it festive and fun.

Some kids will have a chance to make their candy run.

Some ask questions about the point of glorifying death.

Some have no qualms about being in touch with the spirits of the dead.

Some enjoy the idea of triggering fear.

Some are reluctant to deal with questions that their kids will rear .

Some say it is no big deal so let kids have a good time.

Some wonder how all of the candies may ignite.

Death seems to be a preoccupation on Halloween.

Death and trick or treat have been together ever since.

Maybe it is appropriate that Halloween happens before Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We have been able to look beyond death with thankfulness for our aliveness.

Romans 12:1-2

"I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
