Oct 25th, 2022: Disconnection

We went to see a hockey game on Saturday courtesy of my son and his wife. It was a more engaging atmosphere because of better seats and no more COVID restrictions. We could see people's faces better without  masks. The home team did not play all that well although we won in OT. It was one of those games when luck had its way.

There was no cohesiveness in the first period. The home team could not control the puck, and their transition game was spotty. They could not get anything going, and the opposite team scored twice. Maybe there are too many new players on this year's roster, and they are not yet in sync.

Somehow it was a reflection of our society after two years of isolation because of Covid. There are so many changes, and things are not working well. There are not enough workers, and we have no idea why. People seem not to be interested in working. Many now prefer working from home. The service industry is suffering. Manufacturing still tries to find its footing in terms of the labor force. Universities try to recover from the loss of revenue. Some students have become disenchanted with university education.

We, as a society, are not in sync. Governments are certainly not with their people. People do not have enough income to take care of their needs. Our government in Canada has no clue where it spends its money. Businesses need to have a tax break. Our Canadian government decided to increase the carbon tax and has not yet shown any accountability for that tax.

1 Corinthians 1: 10

"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."

1 Peter 4: 10

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."
