Aug 18th, 2022: Despair

 

Despair can drive us to do horrible things.

What is ahead can be so dark, that we start imagining.

Despair can be the outcome of a broken heart.

Death happens as hatred imparts.

Despair can crush our spirit.

We look at life from the bottom of the pit.

Despair can be the cause of many other afflictions.

It is the manifestation of our sinful condition.

We long for deliverance.

We ask for help and wonder from what distance.

By faith, we will not be forsaken.

We might be damaged, but our spirit is awakened.

We will not be destroyed.

In God, our hearts are overjoyed.

"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;

he delivers them from all their troubles.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted

 and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

The righteous person may have many troubles,

but the Lord delivers him from them all;

he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken." - Psalm 34: 17-20

"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed." - 2 Corinthians 4: 8-9
