July 9th, 2022: Can We Hear or See?

 

Mother Teresa once said that the opposite of love is not hatred but indifference.

That is so true because human life is full of ambivalence.

We have ears but do not hear.

We are controlled by our fear.

We have eyes but do not see.

We are afraid of responsibilities.

We pretend that we don't see the needs of others.

Our hearts are callous as we don't bother.

We ignore the cry of the poor.

We prefer to protect our privileged power.

We overlook the inequality in society.

We would rather worship God in our perverted sense of piety.

We say that we pray to God faithfully.

We discover that we hear our voice only.

Jeremiah 5: 21

 

"Now hear this, O foolish and senseless people,

Who have eyes but do not see;

Who have ears but do not hear."
