June 9th, 2022: Thanks God It Rains
My farmer friends are happy because they got some rain the last few days. That was the much-needed moisture.
I used to love rain as a kid. It is kind of fun having a shower under a thunderstorm.
Rain brings life. It feeds the field and provides needed nutrients. Sometimes we need to pray for rain within our beings. Someone told me recently that she feels dead inside. She feels no joy, and she has no hope. She needs a significant rainfall from God.
Rain cleans the air. Rain is welcome whenever we have forest fires. The smoke can be so thick that we can hardly see. Rain can clear the smoke and grants us space for clean air. Some of us might have to go through a period when life is on fire. Breathing is difficult. God's love is the needed rain. It cleans our souls, frees our minds, and tempers our spirits.
Rain brings comfort. I love the sound of rain in the middle of the night. It is just steady and soothing. I can close my eyes and rest. God's presence is that kind of rain. It is powerful, and yet it is simple. When we allow ourselves to embrace God's presence, we are able to enter the much-needed rest.
Isaiah 55: 10
"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,"
