June 30th, 2022: Dealing with The Unxpected

 

We got caught in a hail storm yesterday morning.

It was localized, but I did not know it was coming.

The hail came down, and it looked like snow.

No one could see, so the traffic was very slow.

Some people say only in Alberta do we see such weather.

Thunder and snow together were what we had to measure.

Life is sometimes like the weather yesterday morning.

Unexpected and unplanned events happened without any forewarning.

Some bring more destruction than others.

We wonder where God is in the midst of personal struggles.

Listening to God is like driving through a stormy stretch.

Nothing is clear, and we feel like a wretch.

Our heart grows cold like a sheet of ice.

We try to negotiate our way through the unclear future with our own vice.

"Walking with God" is learning how to go through our spiritual storm.

We can fight off deadly temptation with our minds and our hearts transformed.
