June 22nd, 2022: Facing Oneself

A young man came and talked to me about his recent blackout experience.

He said it sometimes happens because he is bored while playing the video game with his ambivalence.

As we talked, he realized that the real struggle is not having any life purpose.

He works hard yet feels like he is dealing with an unending circus.

The tricks of drugs and boozes might numb his sense of loss.

They don't help him face the darkness when the fantasy curtain closes.

Passing out might not be the worst thing for him at that moment.

It is harder being conscious of his life torments.

He knows that he cannot afford to live such a life much longer.

Our spiritual journey starts with the acknowledgment that his struggles are much deeper.

He then shared with me with regrets.

He knows that facing the truth always opens the door to hope. Life is an ongoing lesson and not a bet.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9)
