June 15th, 2022: Welcoming Aliens
It can be overwhelming to be in a new land.
We feel as if many things are out of our hands.
A young mother with two children came to this country to avoid the bloodshed of war.
She is apprehensive because life has taken a new direction without any clear reward.
Learning a new language can be a real challenge for many.
Talking, listening, and trying to understand are all too tiring seemingly.
A teenager who left all she knew about life behind.
She is now trying to understand what it means to look ahead with fright.
We can see both joy and fear in their eyes.
We need to walk with them by their side.
God desires that we care about foreigners in our lands.
He wants to welcome us to His table, knowing we might reject the invite firsthand.
We were once aliens from His household.
Now we are His children; we are told.
There is always sacrifice in love.
Jesus is that sacrifice offered from above.
Deuteronomy 10:18-19
"He makes sure that orphans and widows are treated fairly; he loves the foreigners who live with our people, and gives them food and clothes. So then, show love for those foreigners, because you were once foreigners in Egypt."
Ephesians 2: 19
"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,"
