May 25th, 2022: Murals

There are plenty of murals in Montreal. Some people consider that they are arts. Others might think otherwise. Personally, I have learned to appreciate murals. They are like tattoos of a community.

Murals always make statements about the world, both trivial and deep. We pay attention to a community because of its murals while we stop and study. Spiritual murals are those special moments of revelation. They make us get away from the busyness of life and ponder on God's truth and forgiveness.

Beautiful murals are very inviting. They tell stories of people, history, human struggles, and victories. In some ways, they invite us into a conversation about our reactions to what we see. Prayers for me are spiritual murals when we have in-depth conversations with God.

A mural can also open our minds to consider ideas and thoughts we have never done before. They visually confront us and give us a chance to respond. God sometimes does that with our dreams and visions as we try to avoid some challenges in our lives.

Joel 2: 28

"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions."

Amos 3: 7

"For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets."
