May 22nd: Choose Life Not Death

Deuteronomy 30: 19

"This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live."

It is a very solemn verse. How often have we witnessed death as the choice? The most recent reaction to the leak of the Supreme Court in the US confirms that. We can dress up a corp, and it is still dead. We can find words that masquerade the reality of death, but we can never deny its essence.

Sometimes I wonder whether our governments really care about life. Everything we have seen lately is about destroying hope, freedom, and creativity. We cannot cry out for economic equality when we do everything to destroy our economic engines.

Our world will be full of spiritual zombies who use the pretext of climate change, canceling culture, racial injustice, and political correctness to disguise their pathways to  our ultitmate death.

Our compassion for the world has to begin with the confession that something is not right with us and not others. The sooner we can cry out for life, the better we have the chance to see life. Human attempts only give a reprieve from death.

So what does it mean for us to choose life?
