May 19th, 2022: Living in Vain

 

Psalm 127: 2

 

"In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat - for he grants sleep to those whom he loves."

I am certainly guilty of this. There is so much to get done and so little time to do it. Our need to be in control has eroded our ability to rest. We are worried about various challenges of life: our work, our food prices, the price of petroleum, and more. Our minds are preoccupied with life's triviality.

We indeed have been busy worrying. We search for ways that help us to be ready for the unexpected. We condemn others because of our own jealousy. We feel insecure because we don't like ourselves.

May we rest well this day and know that God is love.
