April 26th, 2022: Our Idolatry

We are looking for fame and success.

So we create shows like "American Idols" to search for the best.

Idols have many expressions.

Some are subtle; others have louder manifestations.

Our family can be an idol.

We believe that we cannot be wrong at all.

Idol can find its way into our pursuit of wealth.

Nothing can stop our devotion to it until our last breath.

Prosperity tends to be what follows next.

We immerse ourselves with it, and it can hang us by our necks.

Vanity is another manifestation of idolatry.

We go after it and lose our sanity.

Getting wasted with alcohol and other substances is something to consider as well.

We lose touch with God, our well-being, and our family; that is not swell.

Hoping for our lucky charm in a casino has become more acceptable.

It is not about hope; it can be luring even though we are skeptical.

We should not forget the invasion of electronic devices.

It has destroyed many relationships and created many unexpected vices.

Please feel free to add your own.

None of us is free from idols.

Colossians 3: 5

"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry."

Jonah 2: 8

"Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them."
