April 20th, 2022: Our Loss of Humour

Many comedians have been concerned about the loss of humour in our culture.

Some think that Political Correctness has killed our comedy venture.

We cannot open our mouths and say anything controversial.

For these folks, it can be detrimental.

Asians cannot tell jokes about Asians.

Some tell them that they cross the line of limitation.

Recently I learned that three well-known comedians have decided to avoid university campuses altogether.

They are all great comics who believe that university campuses have gone beyond the issue of genders.

Some critics tell them that there are words they cannot use because it implies sexism, racism, and sexual insensitivity.

The real kicker is they are Jewish, Black, and Redneck variety.

Maybe we don't appreciate humor because we cannot face our imperfections.

We want to eliminate our own history instead of learning from it with both joyful and solemn reflection.

Humor helps us to encounter the deep dark secret of our souls at times.

It takes us to the place where we discover our weaknesses and will not be in a bind.

Political Correctness and Cancel Culture movement have done us great harm.

We cannot use humour as a way to encounter the truth; that is a sham.

Ecclesiastes 3:4

"A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."
