April 18th, 2022: Waiting on God

Psalm 27:14

"Wait for the Lord;

Be strong and let your heart take courage;

Yes, wait for the Lord."

Psalm 130:5

"I wait for the Lord; my soul does wait,

And in His word do I hope."

Nothing can be worse than waiting and not knowing.

We want to have the answer to know where we are going.

Jesus' disciples had to wait for three days for his resurrection

They were scared and anxious for their own protection.

Waiting for God is an act of faith and courage.

Sometimes it does reveals different forms of our bondage.

It requires courage because we might need to work through the ungodliness of our life.

Sometimes God wants us to wait so He can cut through our buttered-up corruption with his truth like a knife.

To be strong in waiting is to have the freedom to confront our weaknesses.

We can reflect on our wrongful actions towards others so we can confess.

It is not just with our hearts and minds that we learn how to wait.

Our souls need to long for God so we discover our faith.

We cannot count on the promises of this world.

Our hope should be in God and His desire to walk with us; the flag of His love needs to be unfurled.

That is the foundation of our hope.

Rest in God's righteousness to avoid our slippery slope.
